AKL Event: Sustainable Procurement

In a world where climate change is becoming a threat to people, there are things that businesses and suppliers can do to help minimize climate change impacts such as sea levels rising, ice melting, carbon emissions released to the atmosphere and waste. In July 2018, 60 major NZ companies have pledged to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and hold themselves accountable. The companies produce almost 50% of NZ’s total emissions when their suppliers are included, according to Newshub. Consumers will expect organisations to be environmentally friendly and think about future generations.

Upon completion of this course, delegates will be equipped with:

An intensive introduction to the key procurement and supply topics

By the end of this programme you will be able to:

  • Understand the need for procurement in specification development and build a basic understanding of the category sourcing process
  • Understand your own negotiation style and how to develop that of others
  • Plan and prepare for a negotiation
  • Understand the basic fundamentals of contract law and management within the supply chain function
  • Develop robust contracts with a focus on mitigating risk and improving overall effectiveness
  • Identify the stages of the contract management process
  • Use tools and techniques for monitoring contractual obligations
